The shape of a diamond is the geometric appearance of the diamond, or the outline of the stone. It is different from the cut of a diamond. The cut refers to how well the diamond is proportioned, polished, and faceted.

Colour is the natural colour visible in a diamond and does not change over time. Colourless diamonds allow more light to pass through than a coloured diamond, releasing more sparkle and fire.










Absolutely colourless or icy white. The highest colour grade—extremely rare and most expensive.
Colourless. Only miniscule traces of colour can be detected by an expert gemologist—a rare, high quality diamond.
Colourless. Slight colour detected by an expert gemologist, but still considered a “colourless” grade—a high-quality diamond.
Near-colourless. Colour is noticeable when compared to diamonds of better grades, but offers excellent value.

Clarity
The clarity of a diamond relates to the existence and visual appearance of the internal characteristics called inclusions. The surface impurities are called blemishes.Clarity is one of the four Cs of diamond grading, the others being carat, colour and cut.

Very very slightly included 1. Very difficult to see under 10x magnification.
Very very slightly included 2. Very difficult to see under 10x magnification. Slightly more inclusions than VVS1.
Very slightly included 1. Difficult to see inclusions under 10x magnification. Typically cannot see inclusions with the naked eye.
Very slightly included 2. Difficult to see inclusions under 10x magnification. Typically cannot see inclusions with the naked eye. Slightly more inclusions than VS1.
